I spent this morning at Elk Island National Park just east of Edmonton. There were thousands of Franklin’s gulls. I found a nice place where I could sit on the shore and get close ups of their territorial battles. I am not sure why they are fighting here because I believe they move further north before nesting. Regardless, they were after each other. Their breed plumage includes blood red mouth that is very striking.

Stay well !
