Good Afternoon

One evening we came across the saw three cubs and there mother sleeping on the river bank. We watched them for about thirty minutes and then they began to move around. They started working their way down river when they saw another bear.

The bears don’t like to get close to each other and the dominant bear will push the other bear into the trees and continue to fit, Normally this is done merely by entering into the other bears space and it leaves.

So the mother bear sees a smaller single bear downstream and keeps going. But then the small bears sibling and mother show up so the bear with three cubs now has to turn around. This all takes place slowly with no growling or charging, just bears seeing each other, observing each other and deciding what to do.

I have uploaded a video to you tube that is a combination of some photos and videos I took of this event.
