April 10

Connor and ventured out in the BMIU #1 yesterday to capture the raptor migration that is occurring now. We saw over 30 red-tailed hawks , 6 rough legged hawks, 5 Northern Harriers, 6 short-eared owls, 3 Northern Shrikes, lots of Canada Geese, maybe a swan, horned larks, crows, magpies and ravens. Overcast days makes high-key photos.

Red-tailed Hawk - Eastern Sub-species. For many birds, the eastern North America dividing line is a physical one: the Rocky Mountains. So we get many more Eastern subspecies than the Western sub-species of Red-tailed hawks.

Stay well !
