Here are a couple of photos from early 2016. That year, Edmonton had a bumber crop of pine cones that attracted red crossbills to the city. They have a specialized bill for splitting pine cone seeds. We have rarely seen them in Edmonton since. These two were visiting my neighbors bird feeders and I was able to capture close-ups.
