Good Afternoon

Our trip to Long Lake netted some other interesting birds.

The Rose-breasted Grosbeak winters in Central America and its male has a distinctive plumage. Some people call it the ‘cut-throat” for obvious reasons.

The Ovenbird is one of the noisiest birds in the spring and there were lots of them at Long Lake. But they are shy and hard to get close to. This one was more co-operative than most. They are also Central American migrants and part of the New-World warbler family. Their name come from the dome shaped nests they construct out of leaves on the forest floor that resemble ovens.

Stay Well!
