I missed posting this one by a day. Four years ago Sheryl and I were on our way back home from Monterey, California. We had taken a quick trip to visit our friends the Triggs.
We stayed at the Westin close to the San Francisco airport the night before our departure. It is near the water and the bay in front of the hotel is a large mud flat when the tide goes out. It was teeming with shorebirds. Gary and I had a great evening photographing the birds as the sun went down.
This is a whimbrel.
