Good Morning

Connor and I are off on another adventure today: three nights in Cold Lake P.P. . It will be interesting to see what has changed in a month. When we were there last month, one of our targets was the Black-throated Green Warbler. This warbler breeds in the boreal forest and Cold Lake P.P. is one of the best places to find it.

It’s mountain counterpart is the Townsend’s Warbler. It breeds in the mountains coniferous forest and is found in the southern Alberta Rockies as well as through-out the lower part of British Columbia. We were fortunate enough to find a spectacular male Townsend’s Warbler on the West Castle Valley trail. This very productive birding trail is only steps from our friend Doug Loughead’s cabin, We enjoyed his hospitality on Saturday night and then he joined us for an early morning stroll down the trail. We were able to coax this bird out for Doug to see.

We will be off for a few days.

Stay well.
