I first saw a Western Tanager in Southern Alberta near Oldman Dam in the early 1990's. I was amazed that such a beautiful bird lived here. It was the inspiration that started my bird watching adventures. Since then I have seen Tanagers in Alberta, Ontario, Costa Rica and Panama.
